Net Curtains For Sheer Elegance And Simplicity
Net curtains are an elegant and simple fix for any plain window that needs a bit of flair. These curtains can be a solid color in any shade imaginable, have a pattern covering the entire surface, or even a design cut along the bottom of the curtain. The lengths vary and can be used on small kitchen windows or full-length windows in any room of the house. There are some instances where these curtains aren't used on windows at all. Adding them to a doorway, in place of an actual door, provides a bit of privacy while allowing movement.
Polyester is the common material used for these curtains, making them a fairly inexpensive accessory to any home. They are also light and airy, due to the woven polyester fibers.
Even a bit of sheen can be added to the panels with addition strands of metallic threads. Designs with the same metallic string can create a more elegant feel to any room. There are even panels that have not only designs embroidered onto them, but also pieces cut out and incorporated into the design. These are truly classy curtains.
The thin, sheer fabric allows a lot of light to come in, while still providing privacy. This is the perfect combination for homes that have windows looking right into the neighbor's living room windows. Small rooms benefit from the allowance of light that is provided by the net material. Many people would rather hand elegant sheer curtains, than invest in blinds and a lot of lamps. When the curtains are too thick to allow light in, the only other option to bring in more light is through artificial sources.
Thin material is also less likely to show dust and dirt. They can serve their purpose for privacy, allowing in light, or simple elegance, while still looking fantastic and new. Layering one of these polyester curtains that has a set of intricate designs embroidered into it over a solid sheer panel creates a different feel. This is a great way to change the atmosphere in a room, without spending a lot of money.
Curtains often attract the immediate attention of whomever is entering the room. Since they tend to be the first thing a person notices, they should be attractive.
Besides changing the feel of the room with a different colored background panel, the front design can also effect the mood of the room. For instance, floral patterns over a sunny yellow solid panel creates a country feel, black spiderweb laden panels over deep red solid ones offers more of a Gothic tone, while embroidered vines covering a panel that is positioned in front of a purplish sheer curtain tends to have more of a Renaissance feel to it.
While net curtains are commonly used on windows and in the occasional doorway, they can also be used to create a separation within a large living space. Lofts don't typically have walls to create separate rooms, cut these sheer curtains can easily be used to make a division within the entire loft. Taking off closet doors that slide open and replacing them with this type of curtain can enhance the initial appearance of a room as well. There is a lot that can be done with a single curtain panel, they don't always have to cover a window.
